Diademed head of Demetrios right / Eagle standing left on prow, palm over shoulder.

After Alexander’s death in 323 BC his emprire was divided between his generals.
One of these generals was named Seleucus , he gained control of the eastern portoin of Alexander’s empire, from Syria to Afghanistan.

Demetrius II Nicator was king of Syria from 145 to139 and from 129 to 125 BC

    The coin is much more beautiful than the image. This king had a life rich with victories and defeats, finally was killed after betrayed by his own wife Cleopatra Thea, another colorful personality whose coin is available here too.
